Therefore, is important to generate strengthening initiatives that allow mitigating the gaps it confronts, both internally and externally, such as the free trade agreements that the country has. However, in recent years the sector has been experiencing difficulties, which range from the lack of qualified labour, low production capacity, low external prices and supplies of inputs, directly affecting the performance of the companies that are found in the sector, generating a decrease in their sales levels and financial results 3. In 2011, the industry reached sales of more than 349 thousand units, which makes it one of the most dynamic sectors of the economy” 2. “The Colombian automotive market has been registering significant growth in the country. Estas mejoras permitieron aumentar la capacidad instalada para dar cumplimiento a los tiempos de entrega, además de resultados positivos en la ergonomía de los trabajadores, logrando así que una empresa nacional pudiese brindar nuevas soluciones para enfrentar la demanda de buses para los sistemas de transporte masivo de Colombia y con proyección para la región. Adicionalmente se realiza una revisión de las mejoras implementadas tales como la herramienta Andon, el proceso del tren de laminación para piezas de fibra de vidrio, el doblado de piezas metálicas, los hornos de secado y pintura, la nueva fabricación de techos en PRFV dentro de la compañía, la prueba de estabilidad y la prueba de filtraciones de agua. Se hace una breve descripción del mercado automotriz en Colombia, los carroceros más relevantes y sus desafíos, enfocando la importancia de generar iniciativas que permitan mitigar las brechas y cómo Superpolo las afrontó. Keywords: articulated buses, automotive industry, bus body, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), manufacturing, mass transport, Transmilenio.Įl presente artículo pretende dar a conocer la transformación de los procesos productivos de la compañía Superpolo S.A.S y su marca Marcopolo, para el desarrollo de nuevos buses articulados y biarticulados para los sistemas de transporte masivo tipo BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), los cuales permiten una reducción de emisiones al medio ambiente, cumpliendo con los niveles de calidad exigidos en las nuevas licitaciones en Colombia y particularmente para el sistema de transporte masivo en Bogotá (Transmilenio). These improvements made it possible to increase the installed capacity to comply with delivery times, in addition to positive results in the ergonomics of the workers, thus a national company was able to provide new solutions to face the demand for buses for the BRT systems of Colombia and with projection for the region. Additionally, a review of the improvements implemented, such as the Andon, the fiberglass lamination train process, metal parts bending, dry and paint ovens, new manufacture cells, till and leak tests. The article describes the automotive market in Colombia, its more relevant bus bodybuilder assemblers, and its challenges, focused on the importance of generating initiatives that mitigate the gaps and how Superpolo addressed them. This article shows the main transformations in the production processes of Superpolo S.A.S and its brand Marcopolo, for the development of new articulated and bi-articulated buses with concept BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), which allow a reduction of emission to the environment, and with the quality levels according to the new tender processes in Colombia and particularly for mass transport system in Bogotá (Transmilenio). ![]()
